Many of our nonprofit marketing clients have applied for and received the Google Ad Grant. Doing so is about as much of a “no brainer” that there is! It provides nonprofits with free advertising on one of the world’s most powerful advertising platforms! But just like most things in life, free things often come with some limitations, and this is definitely true of the Google Ad Grant. Yes, nonprofits get valuable advertising credits for free, but that doesn’t mean they have carte blanche to run any sort of ads they want.
Google places certain restrictions on the ads run through the Google Ad Grant program—and they are even more strict than those that are placed on paid advertisements on Google.
But here’s the kicker: if your nonprofit runs an ad that violates one of the Google Ad Grant’s policies, Google doesn’t tell you exactly how you violated it. They will simply suspend your account. It’s up to you to figure out what you did wrong, fix it, and then request reinstatement from Google.
If you are managing your nonprofit’s Google Ad Grant account on your own, you might not even know where to start to determine which of Google’s rules you violated. However, if you work with our nonprofit marketing agency in Houston for Google Ad Grant management, our team of Google Ads experts can help you sort it out.
We addressed this topic in a recent video conversation that took place among Beeline owner Chris Barlow, our Google Ads expert Affan Laghari, and our content strategist Dave Kimbell, which you can watch below.

In this conversation, we discussed the importance of working with a nonprofit marketing agency that can help you navigate the often-confusing world of Google Ads. We also talked about a specific instance that came up with one of our clients a while back. Their Google Ad Grant account had been suspended, and they had no idea why. After some investigation, we figured out that the issue was a landing page that some of their ads were taking visitors to. On that landing page, the nonprofit was encouraging people to purchase things directly for their clients, and they had included links to Amazon where they could purchase specific items. It was those Amazon links on the landing page that caused the nonprofit to be in violation of the Google Ad Grant policy. Once they took those links down, they were able to get their account reinstated.
Our team was able to figure out the issue fairly quickly because we are familiar with the Google Ad Grant policies, but for many of our clients, solving a problem like this would mean going through all of Google’s policies for the first time to determine what they did wrong.
When you work with Beeline for Google Ad Grant management, not only can we help you solve issues with Google, but we can also help you avoid violating their policies in the first place!
